The gods of light and titans of the dark

 All was revealed there none can here express;

Vision and dream were fables spoken by truth

Or symbols more veridical than fact,

Or were truths enforced by supernatural seals.

Immortal eyes approached and looked in his,

And beings of many kingdoms neared and spoke:

The ever-living whom we name as dead

Could leave their glory beyond death and birth

To utter the wisdom which exceeds all phrase:

The kings of evil and the kings of good,

Appellants at the reason’s judgment seat,

Proclaimed the gospel of their opposites,

And all believed themselves spokesmen of God:

The gods of light and titans of the dark

Battled for his soul as for a costly prize.

In the hidden worlds on the inner subtle planes, everything that cannot be fully expressed in this outer material world was disclosed or made known as if the veil of matter had been lifted. Ashwapati saw incidents in his vision and dream indicating allegories and tales of truth, symbolically more genuine than the facts of the outer world. The symbols seen by Aswapati spoke much more truth than the facts he saw in everyday life. The divine signature guaranteed the effective implementation of the truth of those dreams. Aswapati saw the immortal beings inhabiting the worlds of the inner, subtle planes. Their eternal eyes peered into Ashwapati's eyes, and they approached and spoke with him. Some of them, who were physically dead here, were found gloriously ever-living there, left their glory to visit him, and whispered their deeper wisdom beyond all words here. In these subtle worlds, there were both conflicting powers, one lifting us and propelling our evolution while the other holding us back and dragging us into material existence. Both these kings of evil and good were like petitioners proving their case, while Reason was the judge ruling in their favour. Each of them was stating its case or the sacred truth of its own philosophy, contradicting each other, both presenting themselves as the mouthpieces or representatives of God. The opposing gods of light and titans of the dark fought for the precious gem of Ashwapti's soul to win him over their side.

The White (Hierarchy) and the Dark brothers in Theosophy:

Sri Aurobindo's opposing gods of light and titans of the dark fighting for the precious gem of Ashwapti's soul are precisely the energies and forces composing the White brotherhood (The Planetary Hierarchy) and dark forces on the planet. In their twenty four books on esoteric philosophy, Djwal Khul and Alice Bailey refresh the perennial philosophy (theosophy) and give the psychological keys to properly interpret "The Secret Doctrine". They describe in detail how the hierarchy works to consummate the Divine Will of our planetary Logos (Sanath Kumara) while the so called planetary evil retards (through the illusion of fragmented matter leading to separation, wars and conflicts) the smooth evolution of a human soul (through the interaction of spirit with matter) into it's divine nature. To quote a few lines from the first book of the series "Initiation, Human and Solar" -

"Though the subject of the occult Hierarchy of the planet is of such a profoundly momentous interest to the average man, yet its real significance will never be understood until men realise three things in connection with it. First, that the entire Hierarchy of spiritual beings represents a synthesis of forces or of energies, which forces or energies are consciously manipulated for the furtherance of planetary evolution. This will become more apparent as we proceed. Secondly, that these forces, demonstrating in our planetary scheme through those great Personalities Who compose the Hierarchy, link it and all that it contains with the greater Hierarchy which we call Solar. Our Hierarchy is a miniature replica of the greater synthesis of those self-conscious Entities who manipulate, control, and demonstrate through the sun and the seven sacred planets, as well as the other planets, greater and smaller, of which our solar system is composed. Thirdly, that this Hierarchy of forces has four pre-eminent lines of work:—

1. To develop self-consciousness in all beings.

2. To develop consciousness in the three lower kingdoms.

3. To transmit the will of the Planetary Logos

4. To set an example to humanity. "

The following figure illustrates the composition of hierarchy, Master D.K. (or what I spell as Djwal Khul on the education ray 2) is the Tibetan master who has given the teachings of theosophy and the Seven Rays (so called ageless wisdom) to the wider world.

Albert Einstein on Intuition

Albert Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore In Berlin , Germany - Some selected quotes and thoughts of Albert Einstein on intuition - The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. We will not solve the problems of the world from the same level of thinking we were at when we created them. More than anything else, this new century demands new thinking: We must change our materially based analyses of the world around us to include broader, more multidimensional perspectives.  I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.  The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it Intuition or what you will, the solu

More on Synthesis

Again we shall contemplate on a few more words on the wisdom of synthesis (navigating the "narrow razor-edged Path" between duality or the "noble middle path" of Buddha) from our beloved DK. However I wish to emphasize that Djwal Khul and Alice Bailey demonstrated practical (not just theoretically) synthesis. For instance Alice Bailey being born in the west was open enough to acknowledge and bring forth teachings from a far wiser eastern/oriental master Djwal Khul. She could both surrender herself (a difficult quality to develop for the western concrete mind with its overemphasis on freedom) and at the same time was careful enough to guard herself against foolish blind devotion (a vice of oriental masses). Another disciple who demonstrated practical synthesis was Blavatsky (synthesis of religions). She established Theosophical society headquarters in the west and soon shifted it to the east although she worked and died for the cause of theosophy in the west. One mo

What is a seed-thought ?

One of my friends questioned me: What is a seed-thought ? This post attempts to throw some light with example, on the concept of a seed-thought. Here is how we define it: "A seed-thought is simply a thought-form or a phrase or symbolic words which conceal a fundamental truth and acts as a seed that sprouts in a contemplative meditation (meditation with a seed) revealing that truth." A Seed-thought being a (thought-)form, we need to look also the broader concept of "form as a symbol", of which a seed-thought is just an example. Earlier we tabulated so many example of trinities. "Purpose - Idea - Form" is one such trinity of symbol. What this means is that every symbol has three interpretations - as a from it is an expression of some underlying idea. This idea has behind it, in its turn, a deeper underlying purpose. These three interpretations of a symbol can be summarized as: 1. Exoteric interpretation:  Based on its objective utility and upon the nature o
