A synthesis of Savitri and Theosophy - Painting No 16

Affranchised from the respite of fatigue
Once more the rumour of the speed of Life
Pursued the cycles of her blinded quest.
All sprang to their unvarying daily acts;
The thousand peoples of the soil and tree
Obeyed the unforeseeing instant’s urge,
And, leader here with his uncertain mind,
Alone who stares at the future’s covered face,
Man lifted up the burden of his fate.

Sri Aurobindo says: "Released from the breathing space momentarily offered by tiredness, again the gossip or whispering sound of the rush of Life chased the rounds of blindfold pursuit." Exhausted we rest or sleep at night and get a breather from daily activities of life. However after waking up we are once again released from that respite and the noisy rush of Life starts again.

The thousand peoples of soil and tree can be compared to the elemental kingdoms of Nature in theosophy (mineral, vegetable or plant and animal kingdom). Obeying their natural instinctive impulse they jump on with their invariant daily job. In these kingdoms the mind remains undeveloped. However in the next hierarchical kingdom of Man, nature has evolved a mind. In advanced man the mind is fully evolved and starts coming under the influence of soul (atma-buddhi-manas triad). An unevolved man feels alone and uncertain about his future since he cannot get the inner guidance of his own soul. Additionally man being an unruly child of nature mostly rejecting the outer guidance of true teachers (the evolved messengers or teachers periodically incarnating) and therefore has to lift the heavy load of his destiny by himself all alone.

Huta paints a load-lifting man on the earth's curve. The Mother guides Huta with sketches where she depicts the load and aspirational effort of man.

The original oil canvas paintings are archived and displayed in Savitri Bhavan, Auroville (more details in the next post). These are published as a collection of five books and could also be purchased online on Amazon, SABDA as well locally sold here in spiritual bookshops everywhere. Images are from first book of the set. I took the liberty of freely posting first few paintings as a sample on my facebook page as they are the Ray 4 expression of the ageless wisdom and will lead to a synthesis with occult philosophy of theosophy.

Third Initiation : Disciple and Mental Body

 We studied initiations until the second in our ealier posts. Today let us look at the third especially from the perspective of a disciple (rather than the ray as well as the external ceremonial aspect conferred during the wesak full moon which we will cover later). The third initiation marks the culmination of complete mastery of the mental (in the same way that the earlier two initiations resulted into the control of physical and astral planes). It is a distinct initiation, which marks a definite transition out of the form consciousness (lower personality of mental, emotional(astral) and physical planes), and the initiate can function at will on the plane of the intuition though soul (ego). Between the second and third initiation work is struggling with and mastering the energies of the mental world. What kind of work ? DK sums that for us (details found in TWM book) as -  "A. Work on the mental plane produces realisation of duality. The disciple seeks to blend and merge the...

Aphorisms as seed-thoughts

 Subsequent to our discussion on seed-thoughts, another great example of seed-thouht I think is an aphorism. The complete agni-yoga series of books by Roerichs are aphorisms of Ethical living (and give Ray 1 flavour of fiery will to the yoga of synthesis). Similarly the temple aphorisms of Francia A. La Due give a Ray 5 flavour of occult science to the works of H.P. Blavatsky and William Q. Judge. We quote those aphorims (as seed-thoughts) from temple teachings of Master H. (with his image):  "Days come and days go, but if thou watchest thou shalt see: THE LOAD thou hast laid on the heart of a friend will God transfer to thine own heart; heavy as it presses on the heart of thy friend, heavier will it press on thine own heart in the days to come. THE STONE thou hast cast from the path of the blind will smite the adder lying in wait for thee. THE WEIGHT thou hast clamped on the feet of another will drag thine own feet into Hadean desolation. THE SHELTER thou hast given the wayfa...

The Twelves of the Inner Ashram of Vicente Beltran Anglada

 The 'Inner Chamber of the Matrimandir Auroville' as seen by 'The Mother' in her inner visions and manifested at Auroville today is illustrated using a real concrete ashram of Vicente Beltran Anglada. The apparent simplicity of many initiates and disciples deprives the overly intellectualised mind of this natural recognition. They are too humble and never boast about their inner association with ashrams. A few, such as 'B', even begged VBA not to mention his details in the writings since he is very well known socially and did not want any indication to identify him from near or far. The composition of a second-ray sub-ashram was disclosed: 1 B. Relatively young; he is an excellent writer North American 2 C. Catholic missionary, mentioned in the South American “Knowledge” magazine from March 1970. Because he died after the festival of Wesak 1971 his square in the Ashrama was automatically occupied by Di...a South American disciple who since For many years she had...
