Group Initiation I : Lucille Cedercrans

Continuing our study on initiation, today's post will be on some of Lucille’s practical words on initiation related to groups (and ashrams), providing training for the inner group-work (and group initiation) of the Synthetic Ashram which she initiated in her life-time. This ashram will continue to evolve in the consciousness of those who will participate in its practice for the whole Aquarian age (2500 or 2160 years both are correct depending upon the transition period included).

1. Since the major keynote of this new era is Synthesis, it is much more radical an effort than might be supposed, requiring, as it does, a blending of three “notes” or ray frequencies into One. The following quote from Group Initiation, in Ashramic Projections, describes the movement of this new evolutionary path. “Now, before I bring this instruction, or step it down to you, I would have you consider the new goal, the new initiatory goal being focused by your Synthetic Ashram into the body of humanity. The vision of mastery which has always here-to-fore been focused into and through humanity by means of the etheric network, and the story of initiation created within that network, has been the vision of a single, perfect man overcoming death. This has been the symbol of mastery. “The new goal, which is most difficult to convey to your understanding at this time in word (but which, nonetheless, we shall attempt to do), is that of a telepathic at-oned humanity having seen into, having in one moment of perception experienced and overcome the long drawn out process in the form world of evolution. Can you conceive of this new vision—humanity experiencing the synthesis of the evolutionary process in consciousness, thus mastering the form? Now, what are the stages of the new process which will culminate this final act of mastery? They are totally different, and yet they are a synthesis of the old path of initiation as it has always been known.

2. To bring this down to specific form at this time is almost impossible. It cannot be defined as the First, the Second, the Third, the Fourth, the Fifth initiation, because it is one initiation. It is a synthesis of the old path. Itis one initiation which is an experience in consciousness from its beginning to its completion, and  which (at this stage of the initiatory effort being made by the new Synthetic Ashram), cannot be outpictured in symbolic form.

3. As the energy of the soul is precipitated via the soul, mind, and brain alignment, into the bodies and the life and affairs, they create specific effects, which are usually, in the beginning, of a disruptive nature. Now understand that the person who knocks upon the door of initiation is seeking just this. He is applying for initiation into the Wisdom itself, initiation into the world of the soul where the work of service via White Magic is entered into. He brings with him as he knocks upon this door, many, many factors. He brings the depth, the breadth and the height of his subjective self. That subjective self is underlying, is causal to and substantiates the outer objectivity that is the outer appearance. He has, through a long series of past incarnations, undergone many experiences, set many causes into motion, created certain karmic effects through which he must move, and render causal to his spiritual growth and development, before entry through the portals of initiation is possible.

4. The actual building of a group in the outer world is somewhat difficult, because this group must function along New Age lines, It will function without any visible leader, without any visible organization. It must necessarily respond to the Plan and each member of each small group unit within it initiates those activities in the outer life and affairs which manifest the Plan, but without a central leader, without any one individual directing the activities of the group. Each member must work as a Soul, must respond to the Plan as a Soul, and work in the world as a Soul. Where the individual and the groups of individuals respond to this Plan and make themselves available for whatever training is their karmic right, the fact of their availability will be taken advantage of. They will receive that training. Their consciousness will be impressed with whatever concept of Truth to which they are receptive, via inner attitude, and in this way a new Ashramic consciousness will be brought into manifestation within the body of humanity, within the three worlds of human endeavor, to do its work, to work its magic within the Consciousness Aspect of humanity.

5. Now the Ashram, in the form sense, is held together, first, via that emanation of light (the risen Third Aspect) which moves out from the central focal point of the Ashram—the Master—into and through the Ashram, relating and holding together in relationship the egoic or causal sheaths who find their place within the Ashram and which must be pierced by the Soul who is making his first entry into the Ashramic Group Life as he takes his initiation into it. Thus, the Soul with the Ashramic Group Life is not only a part of the Soul life of his Master, partaking of that, he is not only the ideating body of his Master, but he also partakes of and helps to perform what might be called the newly created causal sheath of the Master, which, remember, is no longer causal in the individual sense. Therefore, we see that the Ashramic Group Life, which constitutes first a vast state of consciousness, a vast Soul life, also functions within its own particular instrument which is composed of the causal sheath of those egos or Souls within the Ashram, plus that emanation of light from the Master which holds them all in relationship to one another.

6. In the truest sense of the word, this Ashram is the home of every Soul who has taken his first steps upon the path of initiation and is receiving instruction via this Thought-form Presentation of the Wisdom, whether that instruction is coming to him by means of a station, through a teacher, or whether he is simply reading it. Your Ashram is unique in that it constitutes a new effort from the standpoint of the Hierarchy—being synthetic, composed of the Ashramic Group Life of the First Ray Ashram under the Master M., the Second Ray Ashram under the Master D.K. and the Seventh Ray Ashram under myself. This, then, is a vast Ashram. Its integration is not yet complete, even at Hierarchial levels. The Masters M, D.K. and myself, along with other members of the Hierarchy, are yet working with the Ashram from that perspective which necessitates still the integration of all of its parts on Hierarchial levels into a One Life—into a working unit.

7. There are a number of divisions or classifications of Souls within the Ashramic Group Life. For our purpose here, I should like to define them in four broad classifications: aspirants, probationers, accepted disciples, and senior disciples.

8. Aspirants are those who have been attracted by the light of the Ashram into its aura, but who have not yet pierced its periphery (on Soul levels) and found their place and function within it. A Probationer is one who has pierced the periphery of the Ashram and comes into a particular place and function within the Ashramic Group Life as a Soul. This particular place and function will have to do with the initiation of that service activity which constitutes his path of initiation from this point of development to Mastery. He is then initiating that service activity which he will carry forward throughout however many incarnations it takes him to achieve Mastery.

9. An Accepted Disciple is, as we have previously stated, an accepting one. He is a disciple who has served his probationership. He has initiated, via his own application of the Wisdom, his share of the Ashramic plan into a planned activity. He will always be working in relationship to those within the Ashram who are below him in evolutionary development and with those who are above or ahead of him. An accepted disciple is one whose acceptance of occult obedience is acceptable to the Master. For him, occult obedience has become the Law which governs his interpretation. I would have you consider this “his interpretation of the Wisdom”. He relates always to a senior disciple, receiving from that senior disciple whatsoever guidance, whatsoever help or aid at any given time he is able to invoke. His relationship with the Master is intuitive. He intuits the purpose and the plan which the Master is focusing. Insofar as he is capable, he carries that which he intuits into outer manifestation as a service to humanity.

10. A Senior Disciple is one who is functioning in direct contact with the Master on his own level as a Monadic focus. He is referred to as a disciple on the thread and at this particular time there is not a great deal of purpose in defining his particular function any further than this. He may or may not carry out that function within the three worlds of human endeavor as an obvious intermediary between a Master and his disciples. His particular function and relationship may be entirely esoteric and unknown to any other than himself and those who function with him at this particular level.

11. Those members of the Hierarchy who have achieved to a certain initiation which places them in the function of the Lords of the Ray, bring into focus in relationship to humanity that pure Purpose, that Monad, which has relationship to all of those human beings who vibrate to that particular Ray in the Monadic sense or alignment. Finally, the disciple, via the head center, and his alignment within the Ashram with the central directing focal point, comes under the influence of pure Purpose.

12. Remember that the trial and test of initiation at any level within the Ashram has to do with how much can be put through the instrument at any given time, or within any given incarnation. The Soul has available to it an instrument. The Soul has been sent into a specific area where it is trying to work, to work out its contribution to the One Life within the three lower planes of vibrating matter. It has been given the energy, force, and substance with which to build—to create this instrument of service. It has to master that energy, force, and substance in order to make its contribution at this particular level to the One Life. This is the problem with which the Soul is faced.

13. The Ashram is endeavoring, via the initiation which it is taking, to become the Conscious Soul Incarnate within the body of humanity which will make possible the initiation of humanity into the consciousness of the Soul within any evolutionary level of development. The animal-man can be, within his particular evolutionary place, a Conscious Soul Incarnate as humanity takes this initiation. This does not mean that he will function at the highest evolutionary development of Soul, but that in his particular evolutionary status he will be consciously identified and therefore evolving as Soul.

14. A Master will never tell you specifically where you are on the path of initiation. This is something which you must ascertain for yourself, embody, and demonstrate. At this time, there is no need then for you to be told. Contemplate the Overshadowing Spiritual Soul within the Ashram endeavoring first to establish a contact with its incarnate consciousness, that consciousness within the brain which has become identified with and within form. Consider the tremendous problem with which the Overshadowing Soul is faced.

15. In order for the applicant to initiation to pass through the Door of Initiation he must achieve that focus of consciousness which is in itself the door. In order to achieve such a focus of consciousness, he must overcome the limitation of the activity of breathing. That is, he must overcome the affects which are created or which have captured and imprisoned the consciousness within the form.

16. What is the purpose of breathing exercises? The student who is the applicant to initiation is given a breathing exercise which brings his entire attention to bear upon the act of breathing, which is an involuntary act of the form itself. He inhales, taking so many counts to do so. Between the inhalation and the exhalation he attempts to establish an interlude in which he does not either inbreathe or outbreathe. He holds the breath that has been taken in, and in so doing, he is, without consciously realizing  it, being taught to focus the consciousness above the breath of the form nature. He then counts the exhalation and is instructed to hold again an interlude between the exhalation and the inhalation. When he arrives at the realization such breathing exercises eventually, over a long period of time, bring to him, the two interludes, so-called, will vanish. The consciousness itself will have established a continuous, constant interlude or focus which does not permit the outflow, and therefore the imprisonment, of the consciousness in the form nature. It is via this constant inhalation and exhalation that the consciousness moves into the vehicle, from the vehicle into the environment, into its sphere of activity.

17. Realize then, as you utilize that line of light between the cave and the head center, the tremendous meaning involved here - that the path between the cave and the head center is the path of evolution between and just prior to the Third Initiation and  the completion of the Fourth Initiation, that contained within it, between head center and the cave is that vast body of Wisdom which will constitute your state of consciousness as you stand before the One Initiator to receive the touch of the Rod of  Initiation to emerge a Master.

18. It becomes unnecessarily concerned as to what initiation it might be taking, how that initiation is being taken, and when it will be completed. This is one of the greatest obstacles to group initiation. An initiation is a new beginning and every group daily makes a new beginning. There are no mysterious ceremonies involved in initiation. The act of daily living for man, woman, and child constitutes initiation. The act of daily service for every group constitutes initiation.

Albert Einstein on Intuition

Albert Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore In Berlin , Germany - Some selected quotes and thoughts of Albert Einstein on intuition - The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. We will not solve the problems of the world from the same level of thinking we were at when we created them. More than anything else, this new century demands new thinking: We must change our materially based analyses of the world around us to include broader, more multidimensional perspectives.  I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.  The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it Intuition or what you will, the solu

More on Synthesis

Again we shall contemplate on a few more words on the wisdom of synthesis (navigating the "narrow razor-edged Path" between duality or the "noble middle path" of Buddha) from our beloved DK. However I wish to emphasize that Djwal Khul and Alice Bailey demonstrated practical (not just theoretically) synthesis. For instance Alice Bailey being born in the west was open enough to acknowledge and bring forth teachings from a far wiser eastern/oriental master Djwal Khul. She could both surrender herself (a difficult quality to develop for the western concrete mind with its overemphasis on freedom) and at the same time was careful enough to guard herself against foolish blind devotion (a vice of oriental masses). Another disciple who demonstrated practical synthesis was Blavatsky (synthesis of religions). She established Theosophical society headquarters in the west and soon shifted it to the east although she worked and died for the cause of theosophy in the west. One mo

What is a seed-thought ?

One of my friends questioned me: What is a seed-thought ? This post attempts to throw some light with example, on the concept of a seed-thought. Here is how we define it: "A seed-thought is simply a thought-form or a phrase or symbolic words which conceal a fundamental truth and acts as a seed that sprouts in a contemplative meditation (meditation with a seed) revealing that truth." A Seed-thought being a (thought-)form, we need to look also the broader concept of "form as a symbol", of which a seed-thought is just an example. Earlier we tabulated so many example of trinities. "Purpose - Idea - Form" is one such trinity of symbol. What this means is that every symbol has three interpretations - as a from it is an expression of some underlying idea. This idea has behind it, in its turn, a deeper underlying purpose. These three interpretations of a symbol can be summarized as: 1. Exoteric interpretation:  Based on its objective utility and upon the nature o
